For Gondor!

New Zealand is having a wine forgery scandal. Winemakers are very keen on consumers perceiving their labels as accurate.

Most important statement that should never appear on an accurate NZ wine label?

“Made from squeezed hobbits.”

Curiosity

“There are few of the world’s problems which cannot be solved with high explosive.”

As we know, most of these few can be solved with heat-shrink tubing. This raises two questions, however:

  1. Are there any of the world’s problems that can be solved with either high explosive or heat-shrink tubing?

  2. Are there any that can only be solved with both high explosive and heat-shrink tubing?

Bathroom thoughts

“‘This Forester guy writes a darned good book, and I can certainly identify with his hero. Besides,’ she giggled, ‘I like his initials!'”

I’ll have a double broadside on the Fourth Wall, if you please, Mr. Cardones!

The good stuff

Seasonic Prime 80+ Titanium. I gather that cap is from a reputable manufacturer? Always assuming it’s genuine, of course.

The need for speed

Spatz, Taube; Hemd, Rock. Aber mir halt im Moment auch.

Halleluja!

“Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side, and it has a dark side, and it holds the world together.”

Oh how I wish
That line
Was mine.

Future bugs

The Visual Studio 2017 “Visual Studio Installer” is apparently intended as a show case for asynchronous programming. It does a lot of things asynchronously, including the check for available product updates (not updates for the Installer, but for Visual Studio). Since async programming is hard, it is little wonder the developers didn’t get it right.
